When Sue Stranger started Adobe Design in 1994, it was the culmination of a lifetime spent designing and creating things….everything from ads for Sara Lee pastries to clothes
for her high school peers. So it is no surprise that you can always find things at Adobe Design
that you just won’t find anywhere else. It could be one of Sue’s beautiful necklaces made
with freshwater pearls and antique Tibetan beads, or equestrian-themed ceramics she designs
and has hand-crafted in Guanajuato. Or maybe one of her greeting cards along with
one of her custom blessing bottles as a unique and thoughtful gift.
Sue’s retail career actually started in the 1970’s, when she opened a store called The Best of Mexico in Palos Verdes Peninsula’s Peacock Alley. The focus of the store was the indigenous art she discovered and fell in love with during her high school surfing trips across the border. Several Interior Designers in the area soon discovered Sue and she began designing custom bedding and drapery and eventually clothing for their customers. From there life took her across the country to Fredericksburg Virginia, where she opened up another store, called ‘The Cottage’. There she sold local early American antiques, and taught the locals to knit, crochet, needlepoint and macramé. After two years on the East Coast Sue came back to Los Angeles and went into advertising, starting as a secretary and ending her career as a Vice President, creating ads for clients like Sara Lee and Nestle.
She opened Adobe Design in 1994, her advertising agency
where she still handled Sara Lee Fresh and various promotional projects for Nestle Confection Division. She kept both the agency and the store going for two years. Then started helping customers in their homes, evolving from designing and making individual pieces to complete interior design and remodel, with landscape design following shortly behind.
Sue’s understanding of sis to offer her customers a vast variety of one-of-kind artful, hand-crafted merchandise for all occasions. When she isn’t designing jewelry, or custom iron, blessing bottles or greeting cards…you can be sure she is thinking of something new and different. So, whether you are looking for custom jewelry; European home accessories; antiquities from the four corners of the world; Italian ceramic tableware by well noted Vietri and pewter by Match; or, want to sooth your skin with 100% natural, three times hand milled soaps from Provence, Italy and Portugal, at Adobe Design we always have something you won’t be able to find anywhere else. Even the gift wrap is done in a unique and artful presentation that you can be proud to give.
